Women are being invited to try a new sport after research suggests 80 per cent do not exercise enough.

A range of sports available in and around Bedford will be showcased at the Women and Girls Sport Festival, this Saturday, January 25.

The event is open to women and girls of all ages and abilities where they can have a go at sports including wheelchair basketball and fitness classes.

Sport England research shows just 19 per cent of women in Bedford do the recommended amount of weekly exercise, while a significant number of 11 to 13-year-old girls drop-out of doing three hours of PE and out-of-school sport.

The free event which features more than 14 activities, is at the Bunyan Centre, Mile Road, from 11am to 4pm. For more information go to www.bedford.gov.uk/sport
