Bedford Blues chairman Geoff Irvine has urged the club’s fans to show their true colours this season.

Following the announcement from Irvine that he will be standing down from his position at the end of the 2015/16 season, an outside group has been formed to examine the relationship between Bedford Blues and the local community.

After the first phase of their work and a survey to gather the importance of rugby in Bedford, Irvine believes that the best way to showcase support is to turn up on Saturday when the Blues face Jersey in the Greene King IPA Championship.

He said: “It has been demonstrated time and time again the importance of the 16th man and the need to make Goldington Road a fortress.

“We urge fans to show their support by coming along this Saturday and cheering the lads on against Jersey.”

Match day tickets are just £18 on the gate or can be bought online at a discounted price.

To recognise the standout individuals from across the competition, a panel of key regional and national media with vast knowledge of the Championship will submit their player of the month to public vote.

A shortlist of six nominees will be revealed towards the end of every month, to include an average of three rounds, before supporters will vote online for their overall favourite.
