Bedford Blues have confirmed that their final pre-season friendly ahead of the Greene King IPA Championship season will be against Pro 12 side Scarlets at Llandovery RFC.
Having already announced encounters against Ampthill, Old Albanians and Plymouth Albion, Mike Rayer’s men will head on their travels once again to face Welsh giants Scarlets on Saturday, August 29 at 2.30pm.
The Welsh region finished sixth in this season’s Pro 12 to qualify for the European Challenge Cup, and will prove a stern test for the Blues ahead of the Championship season opener.
Director of rugby Mike Rayer said: “This is a mouth-watering clash against the Scarlets which will be the ultimate test before our first league game.
“With the players returning to training this week the news will give them something to really look forward to.”
Match tickets and hospitality packages for the final pre-season clash will be on sale in the coming weeks – to register interest please call the Bedford Blues ticket office on 0871 871 8088.
Speaking about the team’s other three pre-season matches, Rayer added: “We are really pleased with what we’ve been able to put together. It’s varied and, most importantly, a very challenging set of fixtures.
“These games will be the perfect preparation for what is going to be another demanding season.
“Starting at home with Ampthill and OA’s is a unique and different opportunity for all three clubs and gives it a real local feel that should attract a good crowd.
“We then travel to Plymouth for a game which will form part of a training camp as we ramp up our preparations.
“We also know that Graham Dawe will give us a particularly warm welcome down in Devon.
