Bedford Blues have announced that former Auckland Blues player Baden Kerr has signed a contract with the club until the end of the season.
Kerr, who can play at both fly-half and full-back, made his Super Rugby debut for the Blues against Hurricanes in 2013, as well as representing his club Counties Manakau in the ITM Cup.
Standing at 6ft 3ins and weighing in at around 90kg, the 25-year-old is an imposing figure not just in attack but also defence, adding further size and strength to the Bedford squad.
Speaking about the new signing, Director of Rugby, Mike Rayer said: “We are delighted to have someone of Baden’s quality and ability join the team for the rest of the season.
“He has experience of playing with and against some of world’s greatest players, so will be able to bring a lot to the table.
“He will also add to the competition for places behind the scrum and bring plenty of versatility.
“After a couple of frustrating seasons in New Zealand he sees this as a new and exciting challenge and cannot wait to get out on to the pitch.
“It’s a great boost for us as we enter into a crucial part of the season.”
Kerr has been training with the Blues this week and could be in line for his Goldington Road debut when London Scottish visit on Saturday afternoon.
