New Bedford Blues recruit George Perkins has been shortlisted in the Greene King IPA Championship Player of the Month award for September.

Off the back of the U20 World Championship final with England, George Perkins has had a great start to the season for the Blues, with four tries in his three appearances and all away from Goldington Road since joining from Saracens over the summer.

He is one of five nominations.

Reliable points scorer Peter Lydon of London Scottish has secured 41 points off the boot so far this season.

Doncaster Knights find themselves in the first shortlist of the 2015/16 campaign, with back-row forward Latu Makaafi. The Tongan has produced powerful try-scoring displayers in the last month, scoring six tries and taking him to the top of the division’s try-scoring charts.

Aaron Pinches has impressed following his summer move from Bedwas RFC. The centre has brought massive go forward to the Moseley midfield, proving instrumental in the Midlands side’s victory over London Scottish, and playing a further crucial role against Bedford Blues and London Welsh, despite narrow losses in both.

Finally, Tom Varndell makes the shortlist after joining Bristol Rugby from London Wasps this summer. The winger crossed twice against Jersey in round four, setting the platform for the win with ruthless finishing out wide. He was also on the scoresheet for Bristol’s win against London Welsh.
