Bedford Tigers U13s have extended their unbeaten record this season after victory in Twickenham on Saturday.
Those from Bedford that had made the trip around the M25 saw the Tigers produce their best rugby league so far this season against Richmond, winning 46-14.
Built on the solid defence that the boys have shown all year they quite simply blew Richmond away scoring eight tries, converting seven and conceding just three.
The boys were dominant all over the pitch with strong running, solid tackling and great handling leaving Richmond with little to play for other than pride.
Try scorers were Luca Ventrone with two and Jack Harding and Matteen Querishi with three each. Toby Wiggett with the kicking duties was successful from the boot with seven out of eight.
One particular highlight was a prolonged period of defence on the Tigers line where Richmond tried to use their ‘battering rams’ to get over the try line from only five metres out only to be smashed back on each occasion by superb Tigers defence in particular led by Gurkeran Johal and Tom Pattinson.
This lasted until the pressure applied by the Tigers defence led to an error by Richmond and turnover ball.
This game saw the end of the current schedule of matches for the newly formed Bedford Tigers U13s.
Coached by Matt Wilson the squad has enjoyed great success winning all seven games.
The next match is scheduled as a curtain raiser at the Bedford Tigers Family Day on Saturday, August 6 at Wentworth Drive.
>> Bedford Tigers’ senior sides were both left without games on Saturday when North Herts pulled out of the fixtures.
