Bedford Blues finally return to Greene King IPA Championship action with a Friday night trip to Nottingham.

Games between Bedford and Nottingham are always closely contested affairs with the Blues beating the Green & Whites 14-9 in January at Goldington Road while the hosts won 26-24 at Meadow Lane last November.

The two sides had previously played out a fascinating Championship semi-final the previous season with the Blues taking the spoils to reach the final against Newcastle Falcons.

It has been a summer of change at Goldington Road with the Blues revamping their squad and adding some exciting looking signings, four of which head straight into the starting line-up while six take a place on the bench.

Dual-registered Saracens star Nathan Earle makes his competitive debut for the Blues on the left wing while Jim Wigglesworth – who joined from Cambridge over the summer – takes a place on the right wing. The Blues also give first starts in the front row to Tom Williams and James Currie who put in one heck of a shift against Saracens last Friday.

Hooker Jared Saunders, prop Camilo Parilli-Ocampo, back row Josh Buggea, scrum half Peter White, fly half Steffan Jones and returning centre Henry Staff all take a seat on the replacements bench.
