Ampthill director of rugby Mark Lavery and Saracens Academy manager Don Barrell have confirmed the latest addition to the loan arrangement betweeen the two clubs.
Centre Maxwell Wilkins becomes the third player to benefit from the season-long loan arrangement, having made three appearances for Saracens in the LV Cup and 16 for Old Albanians in National 1 last season.
Educated at Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar, Wilkins is a strong, no nonsense number 12 with good tactical awareness, excellent passing capabilities and an impressive defensive game.
Meanwhile, former Saracens Academy member Elliott Reeder has also joined Ampthill for next season.
Reeder played for Saracens in the Premiership 7s series in August 2014. Last season he made nine appearances for Old Albanians in National 1, scoring 42 points from the tee before joining Abu Dhabi Saracens where he was instrumental in their successful season which culminated in winning the West Asia Cup.
Reeder is a talented fly-half/centre with a good running and kicking game.
Ampthill head coach Paul Turner said: “Both Max and Elliott are talented young backs; we expect to help their development within the Ampthill system and they are great additions to the squad for our first season in National One.”
Barrell added: “Saracens are looking forward to having our young players at Ampthill. Maxwill benefit from the loan and he will gain valuable rugby experience from National 1.
“Ampthill is a club with good ambition and we are looking forward to seeing their progres snext season.”
