East Midlands U20s set for action

East Midlands are one of three Midlands counties that will be in action when the new-look National U20 Competition kicks off on Sunday.

The tournament, which was previously played on a regional qualifying basis, has been re-organised into a two-tier competition with a Championship and Shield, each producing quarter-finalists.

The Championship and Shield will each have a pool and knockout stage, with the quarter-finals secheduled for April 7, the semi-finals on April 21 and the final on the weekend of May 4.

East Midlands are the only Midlands side in action on the opening weekend of the competition with a Championship Pool Two match against Gloucestershire at Northampton BBOB on Sunday, kick-off 2pm.

They will then host Notts, Lincs & Derbyshire on February 6.
