A 29-5 victory over Doncaster Knights made it four straight wins at the Goldington Ground this weekend.

And following a performance that had the head coach raving, Rae was in buoyant mood.

“After a tough start (to the season) we probably didn’t perform as well as we could,” he told the Times & Citizen.

“But at the turn of the year we found our form, especially at home.

“We’ve got quite a good run-in. We’re definitely looking up the table rather than down.”

Since waving goodbye to 2019, the Blues have won five of their seven Greene King IPA Championship fixtures.

Rae doesn’t want to start making bold statements, instead prefering to take it one game at a time.

“We don’t want to look too far forward,” he continued.

“I don’t want to set targets for the long term, I’d rather look to the next game and try to win that.”

That next game will be on Friday, March 13 at unbeaten leaders Newcastle Falcons, with Rae keen to build upon the the impressive display that served the Blues so well against Doncaster.

He added: “It was brilliant to see and it became infectious. We need to carry that on now into the Newcastle game.”
