Mouritz Botha has joined Bedford Queens rugby club this week as their new Director of Rugby.

Botha, who is pictured above with club chairman Mick Norman will be a familiar face to everyone on the local rugby scene, having risen from playing at amateur level at Bedford Athletic to championship side Bedford Blues and then onto winning the premiership with Saracens and representing England.

Chairman Norman was delighted to announce the appointment.

He said: “We are very excited about the coming season and Mouritz coming on board is a big step for the club.

“He has an extensive knowledge of the game having played at the top levels and having someone with his experience will help the team grow and take the club to the next level.”

As a coach he has recently worked at championship side Ampthill and had previously coached the German national team.

It is hugely exciting for Queens, who welcome all new players. They train on Wednesday nights at Bedford Athletic Rugby Club on Wentworth Drive at 7pm.
