Ampthill suffer Championship record defeat in mauling at Ealing Trailfinders
Ampthill head coach Paul Turner said: “We don’t mind losing, but I hate being totally out-fought and outclassed.
“Ealing are a very good side and will always punish your mistakes.

“We’d spoken all week about our discipline and fronting up for the first quarter. Straight from the kick-off we’ve not done that – they’ve scored three quick tries whilst our winger is in the bin and then got the bonus point inside 20 minutes that effectively took the game away.”
A first minute yellow card for Wilson Ijeh on his debut handed Ealing a numerical advantage before an injury to Kaden Pearce-Paul in the second minute disrupted the game plan and the hosts were quick to capitalise – tries from ex-Ampthill centre Ruben Bird-Tulloch in the seventh and 10th minute gave them a 12-0 lead.
Tom Collins scored from the restart on 12 minutes before a 17th minute driving maul secured Ealing their bonus point.
