The Flitwick and Sharnbrook based team will take on Wolverhampton Honour Rollers on Saturday, March 22. The two teams have not met before.

The Rebels are keen to lace up their skates and step on track to join the tournament for the third year running. The current team features several old hands who are known for their on-wheels skills as well as skaters who will take on the Rebellion name for the first time this year.

All of the skaters have been training hard and they have a few tricks up their sleeves after recent boot camps with Victorian Roller Derby of Australia and, closer to home, Cambridge Rollerbillies.

And Rebellion have added some nifty footwork to their repertoire under the guidance of former dance skater turned Rebel, Anneli ‘Faerie Knottie’ Gerrard.

Team captain Jade ‘Inky Minx’ Smith said: “The Rebels are training hard and fast in preparation for our first game of the season.

“I’m very excited to see the results on track especially from our newer skaters too.

“This year Rebellion plan on being a force to reckon with.”

It will be followed by a second bout between Cambridge Rollerbillies and Oxford Roller Derby.
