Blues win again at home while Ampthill produce superb fightback
Blues’ remarkable start to proceedings at home continued as they ground out a 28-21 success against Hartpury University.
Mike Rayer’s side had to show a lot of grit and determination in the final ten minutes but did enough to secure the victory, and with it, make it 15 points from as many available at Goldington Road to start the current campaign.

“We still want to tidy a bit of our game up. Some of our accuracy in attack, I thought we looked a little bit blunt for the first time in a while. We’ll get opportunities to fix that in the coming weeks.”
Ampthill welcomed old friends Caldy to Dillingham Park and edged to victory 26-24, having come back from 24-7 behind.
Head coach Paul Turner commented “It was a poor first-half and we had a few choice words to share with the boys.

“I’m not taking credit for the half time changes – when you have good players on the bench they have to come on. We’re pleased to have won but the performance in Cornwall last week was much better.”
