Head coach Paul Turner said he was delighted to announce that winger/full-back Lewis, who is 20 years old, has joined the club on loan from Welsh professional club, Scarlets, for the remainder of the season.

Tuener said: “I’ve known all about Tomi for some now time now, and I have been following his progress.

“It’s great to have him on board for the rest of the campaign. He gives us another option across the back three, and we hope to help him progress as a player.”

Lewis said: “I am excited to be joining Ampthill and to be testing myself in the Greene King IPA English Championship.

“Paul Turner was a big factor in me joining the club, and I think I can only improve as a player under his guidance at this level of rugby.”

The Brecon-born Lewis has progressed through the development programme at Scarlets, but he has made only two appearances this season for the Llanelli club in the Guinness PRO14.

He hit the headlines as an 18-year-old when scoring seven tries for Wales in a sevens tournament at Dubai. Last year, he represented his country in the U20s World Cup and also in the IRB Sevens, scoring 16 tries.
