Eleven High Five teams competed against each other and helped to raise funds for Keech Cottage Children’s Hospice in the process.

Following the morning rounds the teams regrouped to play off for final positions.

After some very close matches, with two teams achieving the same points in the top group, Shefford Seekers and Wyvern Grangers Hurricanes emerged top of the section and progressed through to the final.

Shefford led 6-2 at half time and, although Hurricanes emerged with renewed energy, Shefford were quick to convert their goals and never looked back as they triumphed 12-3.

The Year 7&8 versatility tournament saw teams handicapped according to their final league placings.

The players changed positions at each break and, after eight games during the morning, Westoning Warriors beat Westoning Thunder 9-5 in their semi-final, while Maulden Wildcats edged past Priory Panthers 7-6.

In a nail-biting final Westoning led 5-3 at half time, but Maulden fought back in the second half to tie the game at 6-6 at full time.

Extra-time couldn’t separate the teams and the final went to the golden goal and, after a number of turnovers by both teams, a Maulden shooter netted the winning goal.
