Finlay Cummings was crowned 2015 Shires Junior Golf Tour Grand Final winner after posting the best score of 39 points on his home course at Bedford & County Golf Club. In a field of 75 young golfers, the 13-year-old pocketed the top prize of a family holiday to Gran Canaria after nudging one point clear of three girls.
It caps a remarkable treble for Bedford & County members since Oliver Saunders and Beth Healey made Shires history earlier this season.
Saunders bagged a hole-in-one at Kettering, while Healey broke the ladies’ course record at Pavenham Park – both firsts on Shires Junior Golf Tour.
Kettering’s Ashley Critchley won the Silver Division in the Grand Final on count-back from Rayner Edwards (Whittlebury), with Kibworth’s Sam Haynes-Coote third on 37.
Natasha Ainsley-Thomas hit 38 points to clinch the Gold Division by one and two respectively from Wellingborough’ Sam Digby and Max Faulkner.
Kingsthorpe’s Thomas Freeman took the Bronze Division by four from Lisa Johnston (Peterborough Milton) and Adam O’Brien (Priors Hall).
Countback was needed to decide the winner of the Copper Division 1 as Dillon Basi (The Bedford) edged out Frazer Jones (Lingdale).
Shires Junior Golf Tour debutante Luca Randall (Cambridge Meridian) finished third with 20.
The Copper Division 2 witnessed a first event victory for Haruhi Nakatani (Hendon) as she beat Ben Atherton (Kettering) on countback with 28 points. Tyla Field (Kingsthorpe) was third on 25.
The presentation ceremony also saw Ben Chance (Peterborough Milton), Callum Gant (Rushden), Manato Nakatani (Hendon) and Jones collect their 2015 Order of Merit prizes for the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Copper Divisions respectively.
