Flitwick Dolphins Swimming Club did themselves proud with victory at Dunstable Swimming Club’s Bee Allen Commemorative Trophy Gala.
The gala was exciting and close-fought throughout, but the Dolphins team came through to win by two points from Leighton Buzzard.
There were victories for the girls’ 13 and under medley relay team; the girls’ 15 and under freestyle relay team; and the medley relay team.
There were also wins for Imogen Thompson in the 11 and under breaststroke, Rebecca Grogan in the 13 and under breaststroke and Molly Bow in the 15 and under breaststroke.
Julia Lenkiewicz also swam superbly to take three wins in the 15 and under butterfly and freestyle and the ladies butterfly.
The boys’ 13 and under medley relay team were also victorious, as were the 11 and under medley relay team.
In the individual boys’ events there were wins for George Winder in the 11 and under breaststroke, George Maskell in the 11 and under freestyle, James McFarland in the 15 and under freestyle, Oli Winder in the 15 and under breaststroke and Ben Trott in the men’s freestyle.
Rebecca Grogan, Imogen Thompson, Elidy Dickman, Claudia Grant-Dawson, Olivia Fowler, Emma Boost, George Hart, George Maskell and Ben Trott all produced PB times.
The thrilling finale to the competition was a Cannon Relay, comprising teams of eight swimmers with one boy and one girl from each age group, where second place was enough for the Dolphins team to seal the overall win.
