Blunham lifted their third trophy of the season when they won the East Beds Senior Shield on Tuesday night.

They thrashed Eaton Socon by 10 wickets at Caldecote – a match-up that was a repeat of the Heritage Cup final a month ago.

Blunham won that trophy – and the Butcher Shield earlier in the summer.

At Caldecote, Eaton Socon batted first and made 96 -7 off their 16 overs.

Michael Pickard took 3-16 while Dominic Aloia and Matt Benson piled in with two wickets each.

Eaton Socon lost wickets steadily during the second half of their innings, which prevented them from posting a more competitive total.

In reply Blunham passed that total, making 100 for the loss of no wickets in just 11.3 overs.

Rodriguez was unbeaten on 56, smashing seven 4s and two 6s off just 40 balls, and Pickard was 37 not out off 29 balls.

Blunham closed down the game with a 6 and two 4s in the last over.

His performance with bat and ball earned Pickard the Man of the Match award chosen by the umpires, Geoff May and Peter Gurney

The East Beds Executive would like to thank the groundstaff, umpires and scorers for their help in staging this final, postponed from two weeks ago.
