Mixed bag of results for Bedford sides

There were mixed results for Bedford on the square this week.

The first XI visited Graveley in the Beds Invitation League on Saturday. Bowling first, Amson Alias and Mikey Sinha took two wickets apiece as Graveley were held to 195. In response, Bedford were coasting with Ramkumar Jayaraman top scoring with 61, but a middle order collapse left them 27 runs short.

In Division 3 Bedford II they rolled through Blunham, winning by nine wickets. There were three scalps apiece for Umar Mughal and Russell Pratt as Blunham were skittled for 72, with Maninder Singh scoring 47* in response.

Bedford first XI batting woes continued on Sunday as they collapsed to 101 all out in response to 191 from Flitwick in the Beds County League. It was a good fielding performance but the batsmen threw wickets away. Bedford II gained maximum points with a Potton concession in Division 6.

Last Tuesday the U14 County side prevailed narrowly at Ampthill by seven runs. Batting first, run machine Rohan Mehmi scored a retired 50 along with Krishiv Vyas who joined him in the half century club as BCC posted 129-4. The chase was touch and go, but BCC prevailed. The Under 14 Development side hosted Pavenham. Dilan Sheemar scored an unbeaten 50 but they were comfortably beaten by nine wickets.

On Thursday it was a dramatic tie at The Bury as the Under 16 county side lost by a single wicket to Ickwell. Batting first, Bedford made 107-4 with Simeon Gay scoring 33. It was a fantastic response in the field though as Dilan Sheemar (4-15) and Gay (3-22) took the game to the wire but they narrowly lost.

On Sunday the U12 A side beat Blunham by eight wickets. Dilan Sheemar finished with figures of 3-1 in a Blunham total of 101-6, with Rohan Mehmi reaching 30. The U12 B side lost to Biddenham, despite 30s for Vedant Somal and Harry Wootton-Evans.
