On a windy day scoring was tough but following 18 holes Pitts (hcp 8) found herself in a three-way tie with Natasha Yesinkas (Dunstable Downs) and Freya Daniels (Leighton Buzzard) who all shot 86.

On the first playoff hole all three girls drove well but Pitts was the only one to hit the green with her approach shot, and despite good recoveries from her opponents, Pitts holed a 15 foot putt for birdie to become girls county champion for the first time.

James Manning (hcp 11) is another Beadlow Manor junior with plenty to celebrate, following his performance at the English Schools Golf Championships at Woodhall Spa last Wednesday.

Manning was a member of the Redborne School team who qualified to represent Bedfordshire Schools, and this year he led the way with 35 points which contributed to an overall total of 68 (2 from 3 scores to count) which saw Redborne finish a very creditable 10th out of 34.
