Fullen and McKeown shine for Beds Road Club
A fantastic weekend of action for Beds Road Club saw Gill Fullen win both her age category and the overall women’s race at the Cambridge Duathlon on Sunday.
Steve McKeown also won his age category and finished sixth overall.
At the Flitwick 10km, Phil Holland won by over two minutes as he stormed round the lumpy course.
At the club’s 25-mile Open Time-Trial on Sunday morning 41 riders took to the full event and into a strong headwind.
Icknield’s Tim Davies triumphed in 57.22mins, closely followed by the host club’s Simon Norman, in his first open 25-miler, in 57.54mins, as the extremely tough conditions knocked three minutes off most people’s usual times.
Kieron Lewis started first in the main event and, with no-one to chase down, managed to record a sub-hour time of 59.49mins to come home fifth in his first open time-trial for the club.
Jon Friend came home sixth in 1.00.19hrs and Dave Olney battled home for 26th 1.05.45hrs.
