AFC Kempston Rovers claimed a worthy scalp when they saw off second-placed Yaxley at Hillgrounds in the UCL Premier on Saturday.
With Alex Stoyles and Tom Guiney out Grant Fryer was drafted into defence and Danny Winfield made his first appearance of the season, while Sam Johnson replaced the suspended Kye Andrews in midfield.
Rovers started brightly and were rewarded on nine minutes when striker Vinny Shrieves fired home from 12 yards.
Rovers continued to cause the visitors problems throughout the half, limiting Yaxley to a few long range efforts. They doubled their league on 40 minutes, Dom Marsala flicking on a near post corner for Shane bush to stab home a well deserved second goal.
The second half continued as the first with Rovers creating the better of the chances, limiting Yaxley to very few chances with the back five rarely troubled.
Next up is a trip to Boston Town on Saturday.
