Waders knock Eagles out of Beds Senior Cup

Biggleswade Town knocked Bedford Town out of the Bedfordshire Senior Cup by a single goal on Tuesday night.

There was little to choose between the Eagles and the visitors at the Eyrie but the Waders grabbed the all important goal early on in proceedings.

In a lively first half Bedford had some good chances, but Biggleswade have looked dangerous, especially down the right.

Early on Will Summerfield had two shots, while Paul Cooper put one effort over the bar.

But on 19 minutes Biggleswade Town went in front. Kelvin Bossman collected the ball on the right, put in a cross to the near post and Craig Daniel controlled and scored with a low shot that deflected off George Darlow’s legs before nestling in the back of the net.

Kerran Birch hhad a shot for Bedford, while Daniel put a header straight into the arms of George Darlow.

Just before half time Bossman wenton a run down the right wing, pursued by Josh McGoldrick. He crossed but Lee Allinson, three yards out, can’t connect, and ball travels on harmlessly.

Into the second half Bossman laid the ball left to Daniel who cut into the left corner of area with a clear sight of goal. However his shot hit the post and rebounded into the grateful arms of George Darlow.

Josh Winters saw a shot hit defender and cleared.

Then with ten minutes remaining Rob Parker went on a run from just inside the Biggleswade half, on the left. He cut inside and unleashed a shot that gave Ian Brown trouble, but the former Bedford keeper managed to save and keep the ball.
