Contrary to recent reports, it has been confirmed that Ampthill Town have been relegated to Division One of the SSML after finishing in the bottom two of the Premier Division last season.

Ampthill were relegated along with bottom side Hillingdon Borough, while Bedford FC, Welwyn Garden city and FC Broxbourne Borough have all been promoted to the Premier Division for next term.

Joining Town in Division One are Brimsdown and New Bradwell St Peter, who are promoted from Division Two, along with Broadfields United and Woodford Town from London leagues.

Ampthill have been plying their trade in the Premier Division for three years but started poorly last season – with their first win coming at Hillingdon in November.

They recovered in the latter months of the campaign but failed to pick up points in vital matches against other sides around them.

A club spokesman said: “We are disappointed but our aim is to bounce back.”
