Gary Setchell is staying on to lead Bedford Town into the 2021/22 season.

The former King’s Lynn Town manager arrived at the Eyrie towards the end of September last year as he replaced former boss Mark Ducket.

And Setchell’s impact was immediate as he led the Eagles on an eight-match unbeaten run to lift them up the Southern League Division One Central table before the campaign was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Step 4 season has now been curtailed but that hasn’t prevented Bedford from beginning their preparations for the next campaign, which is due to begin on Saturday, August 14.

Setchell will be joined by Darren Edey as assistant-manager, coaches Graeme Tomlinson and Sam G will also continue in their roles while physio Jazzy Dolby has also agreed a long-term agreement to remain at the club.

Eagles director Jon Taylor said: “We’re delighted that Setch, Darren and all members of our management team have agreed to stay on for next season.

“The progress made under them throughout the autumn was evident on and off the field and we are very much looking forward to continuing that into next season.”

The club also confirmed they will be making further announcements about next season over the coming weeks, including how supporters wishing to purchase a season ticket can do so.
