Ian Thorne bagged a hat-trick for Bedford in a 4-0 SSML Division One win on Saturday.

They returned from Hertfordshire side Sun Postal Sports victorious thanks to three from Thorne and one from Sturniolo.

In the SSML Premier Ampthill Town earned a point from a draw at table topping Dunstable TOWN.

With one or two players away Town’s squad proved resilient and gave a very good account of themselves. Christian Lester has returned to the club and he gave his side the lead midway through the second half with a diving header from Robbie Goodman’s free kick.

Dunstable levelled soon after through Lee Roaches but the game could have gone either way with Paul Lyon going close twice and Tom Kennard pulling off some fine saves.

Earlier in the game Town had appeals for a penalty turned down when McKenzie was brought down but it was overall a fair result after the hosts beat Town at home earlier in the season.

Town are due to host Kempston Rovers in the Beds Senior Cup on Tuesday before a home league game with Hanwell on Saturday.

Kempston had a miserable day at Shepshed Dynamo on Saturday, losing their UCL Premier Division game 4-0.

Liam Fitzpatrick gave Shepshed a great start and Steve Chaplin doubled the home advantage.

Fitzpatrick scored his second goal ten minutes after the restart with Kieran Davies netting the fourth.

Wootton’s UCL Division One game at Rushden & Diamonds was postponed.
