Renhold inflict first defeat on leaders

CALDECOTE’S Premier Division lead is down to just three points after they were beaten for the first time this season, losing 4-2 at Renhold United.

Jason Alison, Shelton Washington, Warren Bentley and Ben Brown netting the United goals that took their sides unbeaten league run up to five games against replies from Barry Dellar and a Paul Gower penalty.

With Bedford Hatters sitting the afternoon out and Shefford Town & Campton away on Britannia Cup duty, now in second spot are Oakley Sports who ran out 7-3 winners at Sharnbrook. Jamie Lally hitting a hat-trick to go alongside strikes from Ray Patrickson, Mark Smith, Shaun Barnett and Ian Strange against home replies from Ricky Bulzis, Jamie Cross and Jordan Baxter.

Jumping up in to fifth spot are Blunham, for them it was their first away win of the season in a 4-3 victory at bottom of the table Dunton.The home side having looked odds on to end their dismal run of nine games without a win, when with just 20 minutes left to play they led the game 3-1. Gareth Hughes twice plus Matt Hulett and Andy Smith on the visitors scoresheet against home replies via Laurence Bosher, Liam Brophy and Tom Burton.

Over at Hillgrounds, hosts AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College were beaten 4-2 by a Wilshamstead side tasting victory for the first time in seven outings. Paul Jones and Michael Taylor both netting twice against home replies from Tom Behan and Rob Jones.

Flitwick Town eased their relegation worries with a 4-1 home victory over second from bottom Woburn. Dean Warren twice plus Richie Bevan and Jim Lewis netting the goals that did the damage against a lone reply from Matthew Busby.

Division One

SPENDING Christmas top of Division One are Lidlington United Sports after they took over the top spot from Marston Shelton Rovers by winning 2-0 at bottom table Kings AFC. Steve Flaherty and Kieren Wills netting the goals that now takes United’s unbeaten run up to seven games.

Second placed Marston Shelton Rovers shared the spoils to retain their season’s unbeaten ways in a 1-1 draw at FC Meppershall. Antony Farr was on the Rovers scoresheet against a home reply from Joe Pyke.

Meanwhile for Bedford Sports Athletic there was an end to their five game unbeaten run and a drop down the table to fifth spot following a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Sandy, who are now the new occupiers of third place. Matt Evans and Daniel Stafford were on the visitor’s scoresheet against a home reply from James Mead.

Up to fourth are Ickwell & Old Warden after a 3-2 home victory over AFC Kempston Town & Bedford College Reserves which retained their season’s unbeaten ways. Andrew Vallom, Matthew McCartney and Lee Threadgold all finding the net against Town replies from Elliot West and Kevin Brown.

Elsewhere Henlow are now unbeaten in their last six outings after winning 4-3 at Westoning. Jonathan Rowe with a brace plus Russ Ayles and Graeme Leger netted the goals that were only replied to by Ali Smith, Scott Gadsden and Glen Cooksley.

The final scheduled game in this division between hosts Lea Sports PSG and Luton Boys being postponed due to an unfit pitch.

Division Two

ELSTOW Abbey took a three point Division Two lead after they retained their season’s unbeaten ways with a 3-1 home win over Marabese Ceramics before hearing that their closest rivals AFC Turvey had been beaten for the first time in 39 games on home soil by Clifton.

Abbey with a first half strike from Travis Joseph and a brace a goals in the second period from Danny Pilgrim had the points well sealed before Luke Deards injury time goal brought up the final 3-1 scoreline. Whilst at Stonefields, a brace of goals from Adam Broughton were to be outscored by strikes from Paul Rowe, Andrew Mussutt and Max Cooper to give Clifton a shock 3-2 victory.

With the Sundon Park Rangers v Pavenham game in Stockwood Park a victim of Friday’s snow, now jumping above both clubs in to third place in the league table are Bromham United who ran out 3-0 home winners over Stopsley Park. Dean Waghorn, Tom Prothero and Jacob Hukin netting the vital goals.

Dropping down the table from sixth to seventh spot are Co-op Sports, goals from Chris Vardy and Scott Davis failing to prevent them from losing 3-2 at home against the new occupiers of sixth place, Queens Park Crescents.

Returning to winning ways and now eighth in the league table are Potton United Reserves, for them it was a 2-1 home win over Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Ben Talbot and Sam Worthington bagging the goals that were only replied to by Alex Toye.

Elsewhere due to an unfit pitch, the game between M & DH Oakley and Great Barford was postponed.

Division Three

TABLE-topping Goldington took their unbeaten ways up to ten games to hold onto a one point lead at the head of the standings with a 3-1 home win over Westoning Reserves.Chris Huckle netting twice and Damion Quigley once against a lone reply from Gareth White.

With Renhold Village sitting the afternoon out, Cranfield United Reserves jumped above them in to second place after winning 8-2 at bottom table Dunton Reserves. Dan Cockerton netting four times alongside single strikes from Philip Distin, Richard Stimpson, James Armstrong and Adam Kerr to take United’s unbeaten ways to ten games against home replies via Scott Fisher and Ben Myler.

Goal difference behind Renhold Village in fourth are Stevington. They won 3-2 at home against Kempston Hammers Sports who were losing for the seventh time on the bounce. Sam King (two) and Clinton Tatham saw their goals replied to by Jason Beddall and Richard Garnham.

Also enjoying a 3-2 home win were Wilshamstead Reserves over Flitwick Town Reserves. Jay Hill, Matt Johnson and Jay Steele were on the scoresheet to give Wilshamstead their fourth home win on the bounce, the replies from Cody Roberts and Adam Moss for a Town side losing their eighth consecutive away game.

The goal of the afternoon came at Mill Lane when a 75th minute James Day free kick delivered from 30 yards inside his own half flew past Sundon Park Rangers Colts’ goalkeeper Graham Hilton to give Potton Town a 1-0 victory.

Division Four

WITH second place Thurleigh’s home game with Wootton Village postponed due to the state of the Keysoe Road pitch, they lost the chance to draw level with leaders Bedford Park Rangers who sat the afternoon out.

Now just two points behind Thurleigh in third spot are Marsh Leys who enjoyed a 6-1 home win over Kempston Athletic. Grant Williams and David Powell both netting a brace alongside singles for Jamie Carson and Alex Clipston, the lone reply from Gavin Matthews.

Stewartby Village remain unbeaten in their last five outings and still sitting in fourth spot following a 3-1 home victory over Caldecote ‘A’. Tom Wheelhouse (two)and James Churchman were on the Village scoresheet against a lone reply from Neil Giles.

Holding onto fifth on goal-difference are Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves after they were held in a 2-2 draw at Bedford Panthers. Lee Coan (two) netting one from the penalty against home replies from Adam Stothard and Michael Bailey.

Just that goal difference behind in sixth place are Shefford Town & Campton ‘A’ , for them it was a 4-1 victory at Goldington Hammers.Scott Dora netting twice plus Sam Larsen and Jake Brown once against a Hammers reply from Danny Johnson.

The biggest winners of the day were seventh placed Clifton Reserves. They were 11-0 home win over bottom of the table Dunton Reserves who were losing their eighth away game on the bounce. Tony Norman and Nick Thomas both bagged hat-tricks, Vince Kernaghn and Laurie Bambridge two apiece plus a single from Mason Bambridge.

Up to eighth are Sandy Reserves who recorded their first home win of the season, 3-2 against second bottom Dinamo Flitwick. Johnnie Stratford (two) and Ryan Gregory were on the home scoresheet against Dinamo goals from Scott Hannam and Dale Goldie.
