Pavenham and Elstow Abbey to meet in County Cup final

But life was much tougher for Elstow Abbey who will face them in the final following their 1-0 win at Lea Sports PSG. Ashley Windridge gave Elstow an 18th minute lead which they preserved thanks to a penalty save from Darren Ayre just eight minutes from time to prevent the game going into extra time.

Premier Division

SHEFFORD Town & Campton are now three points clear at the head of the Premier Division table following their 4-3 win at second place Wilshamstead who were losing on home soil for the first time this season.

However it was the hosts who led 2-0 at the break thanks to goals from Paul Jones and Chris Faulkner but between the 50th and 75th minute, Shefford’s Andrew Hayday bagged a hat-trick to put the visitors 3-2 ahead.

Then with ten minutes left Chris Clark made it 4-2 before Jones pulled it back to a single goal from the penalty spot two minutes from time.

For third-placed Renhold United – who trail Shefford by five points with a game in hand – it was retention of their season’s unbeaten away record. A lone first half goal from Anup Kalayan was enough to take them to a 1-0 victory at Caldecote.

Still in fourth spot are Blunham, seven points adrift albeit with three games in hand after they extended their unbeaten run with a 3-0 win over Leighton United. The goals came from Zak Rowe, Ivan Finch and Andy Smith.

At the other end of the table, AFC Kempston Town although taking their unbeaten ways to five games, remain in the relegation zone after being held 2-2 at home by Woburn. The Safari Boys started and ended the day just two points ahead of them in the league standings.

The Town scored through Alex Russell plus an own goal against replies from James McCarthy and Martin Holland.

At Lodge Road, Sharnbrook and Flitwick Town shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Tom King was on target for the hosts against a reply from Martin Byrne.

Also sharing the spoils were Oakley Sports and Dunton. They also drew 1-1 with Jamie Endersby putting the hosts ahead on 20 minutes while Dunton levelled five minutes from time through David Pugh.

Division One

POTTON Wanderers head Division One by eight points after notching their eighth consecutive home win, a 3-1 victory over Caldecote Reserves.

The visitors also lost for the first time in five outings. Leading 1-0 at the break from a 25th minute strike from Chris Sams, Potton doubled their lead with a Craig Schurek penalty in the 67th minute after substitute Conor Green had been pulled down inside the box. Steve Robinson struck nine minutes later for the visitors to make it game on only for Wanderers’ James Hearson to make it 3-1 three minutes from time to finally seal the win.

Wanderers lead increased after second-placed Marston Shelton Rovers were held in a 1-1 draw at Henlow. Andy Newton was on target for the hosts against a Rovers’ reply from Mark Champkin.

Jumping above Rovers are Bedford Hatters who took their unbeaten ways to eight games with a 3-0 win at Ickwell & Old Warden Reserves. Simon Pixley, Scott Alleyne and Ben Brown were the goalscorers.

Elsewhere, Meltis Albion are now unbeaten in their last seven at home following a 2-1 win over FC Meppershall. Michael Butler and Derek McRae were the scorers with Craig Damon replying.

Sandy extended their unbeaten run to 11 games with a 2-1 home win over second from bottom Luton Old Boys. Daniel Stafford and Rob Tapley were on target against an Old Boys reply from Chris Downer.

Still bottom are AFC Kempston Town Reserves who lost 6-0 at Bedford Sports Athletic. An Ashley Mead hat-trick, an Asa Mead brace plus a lone strike from Gary Canzano did the damage.

Division Two

QUEENS Park Crescents missed tchance to top Division Two as they were beaten 4-0 at Stevington. Mark Walton (two), Richard Howlett and Clinton Tatham did the damage.

With the Crescents losing, three points at home for Clifton against Marabese Ceramics would have seen them top the standings. But alas they lost 2-1. Romano Marabese and Colin Stanley were on target for the visitors against a home reply from Scott Walker.

Those two results gave Westoning Recreation Club a chance to top the pile with a victory at Great Barford. Again it was not to be as the game ended all square and goalless. And that was great news for Kings AFC who crept into the promotion race with a 4-1 win at Lidlington United Sports. It was their sixth away win on the bounce.

John Watts was on target twice alongside Rowan Hazelwood and Chris Greene against a lone United reply from Alex Burrows.

Still in the promotion mix are Bromham United who returned to winning ways for the first time in five games with a 2-1 victory over Stopsley Park. Reuben Hukin and Adam Cranny netted the vital goals against a Park reply from Jake Lepick.

Life gets no better for bottom of the table Kempston Hammers Sports who are now nine points adrift after losing 4-1 at Shefford Town & Campton Reserves. Wayne Huxton (two), Ryan Moore and Sam Welton were the scorers, the reply from Sbna King.

Division Three

WITH leaders Pavenham on cup duty, Sharnbrook Reserves are now within one point, albeit having played three games more, following a 2-0 win at Westoning Recreation Club Reserves. Martyn Caine and Jayme Harris netted the goals and it left the home side without a win in their last 11 outings.

Keeping up their promotion challenge were both Co-op Sports and Sundon Park Rangers with big wins. Co-op took their unbeaten ways to eight games and remain third with a 7-2 victory at Flitwick Town Reserves. A Chris Vardy hat-trick, an own goal plus strikes from Scott Davis, Kerry Smith and Ashley Jordan did the trick, the replies from Dean Conway and Lewis Bunn.

With M& DH Oakley sitting the afternoon out, Sundon Park took over fifth spot on goal difference thanks to a 6-0 home win over Dunton Reserves. Matthew Conway and Sam Chapman netting twp apiece alongside singles from Chris Ward and Chris Hazell.

Hitting one more were Wilshamstead Reserves to ensure Caldecote ‘A’ suffered their eighth straight defeat following a 7-0 drubbing at Harvey Close. A Kieron Colclough hat-trick, Matt Johnson (two), Neil Greig and Liam Philip scored the goals.

Royal Oak Kempston enjoyed a 3-1 victory at Riseley Sports with goals from, Lorenzo Jordan, Michael Cooney and Daniel Detchow-Freeth, the home reply from Jimmy Grandidge.

Division Four

WITH Goldington sitting the afternoon out, AFC Turvey are now 15 points clear after their 18th straight league win. They beat Goldington Hammers 3-2 with Daniel Bailey, Saimir Guri and Andrew Wren the scorers against Hammers’ Robert Ginn and Jimmy Jacob.

Third placed Thurleigh also sat the afternoon out and as such dropped to fifth following wins for Dinamo Flitwick and Eastcotts. Dinamo are third after a 4-1 home win over Clifton Reserves thanks to Dale Goldie (two), Andy Carlin and Gareth Fosseyon, the lone reply from Mark Gearing.

Eastcotts are fourth following an 8-0 win at Wootton Village where Ben Eagles bagged a hat-trick along with single from Adam Jacques, Tony Milioti, Michael Sexton, Jason Smith and Dan Reynolds.

The Village defeat sees back on the bottom after Kempston Athletic had a 2-1 home win over Lea Sports PSG Reserves with Rob Booth and Dee Sayid scoring their goals.

Still in the promotion mix are Potton Town who won 3-2 against Stewartby Village with goals from Chris Cooper, Tom Grimstead and Chris Moore, the Village replies from Michael Darnell and Sam Scutchings.

Sandy Reserves ended a run of six away defeats with a 2-1 victory at Bedford Park Rangers. Nathan Morris and Reece Stratton were their goalscoring heroes against a Rangers reply from Shaun Finlay. Park Rangers have now lost their last five.
