Willmott gutted to leave Luton fans after TeamTwirl craze

THE abiding memory of his time at Luton Town for former winger Robbie Willmott will be turning up at Wembley and seeing hundreds of Twirls in the sold-out Hatters end, writes Mike Simmonds.

The #TeamTwirl phenomenon took off after the play-off semi-final second leg at Wrexham, when Willmott tweeted that he had picked up a 50p from the playing surface and used it to buy a Twirl.

At the height of its craze, Willmott’s Twitter account was bombarded by fans and leaving behind the superb fanbase at Kenilworth Road was the main disappointment for the winger after finding out he had been released last month.
