Watkins looks to emulate Taylor after boss chat

Hatters starlet Adam Watkins is hoping to emulate good friend Greg Taylor and return to favour under boss Paul Buckle, writes Mark Wood.

After turning down a loan move to Molten Spartan SML Premier side Dunstable Town during the week, the young midfielder was summoned from the bench at the weekend and set Luton on their way to a 2-0 victory over Skelmersdale United with a fine left-footed strike.

Watkins admitted he was desperate for some football after figuring just eight times for the Hatters this season and four times for Kidderminster during an unsuccessful loan spell in September/October.

He said: “I’m good friends with Greggers as well and I’m delighted for him to come back.

“He was out of favour a little bit like myself and he’s doing really well at the minute so long may that continue for him.

“Hopefully I can try and at least follow in some of his footsteps and force my way into the squad.

“We’ll just see how it goes. I’ve got a contract until the end of the season and hopefully with a bit of luck I can start playing, start scoring again and rediscovering the form I had last year.”
