Watkins hopes to force his way into Hatters starting line-up

IMPACT man Adam Watkins is hoping that his performances from the bench will help him force his way into manager Gary Brabin’s starting XI, writes Mark Wood.

It took the midfelder five minutes to net the winner against League Two Northampton Town on Saturday after coming on as a second half sub, and he hopes it will help to lend weight to his claims for a starting spot.

The 20-year-old said: “I’ve played against Grimsby away and I thought it’s one of my best games for the club but I got a bit of an injury and that set me back a little bit.

“Hopefully it might make me get a start now, but it’s entirely up to the gaffer. If he picks me I will give my heart out for the club. If I have to come off the bench I’ll try and make the impact I made.”
