Walker hopes Hatters can sneak in under the radar

Promising forward Dan Walker is hoping that Hatters may be able to sneak in under the radar and into the play-offs.

With 14 games to go Luton are still 13 points of the play-offs but, with so many teams still in with a chance of automatic promotion, the 22-year-old is hopeful that Luton’s rivals may take their eye off of them and allow them to catch them up.

He said: “All we can do now is try and get on a good run under the new gaffer and try and pick up as many points as we can.

“I’m sure teams above us won’t be looking too much into us now because they’ll think we’ve gone off a bit. But if we can get a run of five, six wins, and I’m sure if we play like that (the 1-0 win at Stockport on Saturday) every week and get a good run going we can creep into the play-offs and then hopefully carry that on and get promoted.”

And having been out on loan at Braintree, Walker is hopeful that he can play a part in that challenge under new boss John Still.

He added: “We haven’t really done much in training. He’s just trying to get his way of playing across to the lads and I thought we looked a lot more organised today and hopefully it’s the start of things to come. Not only for myself but also for the team. Hopefully we can get into those play-offs and get promoted like we wanted to do from the start.

“Obviously I’ve been on loan at Braintree and my loan’s up now and all I’ve wanted to do is play for Luton. I’ve found first team opportunities a bit limited, not only under Buckle but also under previous managers and hopefully with the new manager coming in I can impress him and get into the team. But obviously the team looked well so hopefully it’s the start of things to come and just keep winning.”
