Walker delighted by late Town call-up

Last-minute replacement Dan Walker was happy to step into the breach as he was called into Town’s starting line-up at the 11th-hour after Jon Shaw suffered an injury in the warm-up, writes Mark Wood.

The 22-year-old attacker impressed with his direct approach on the day and was unfazed by his later inclusion.

He said: “It’s a pleasing moment for me to get my first 90 (minutes) of the season and hopefully I can carry that on.

“I had no idea at first I was going to be in the starting line-up, I thought I was going to be on the bench.

“But we all got called in just before the game and apparently Jon Shaw had hurt his quad or done something to it – I’m not sure how serious it is but they said I was starting.

“I’m just happy that I was called upon to represent in the XI and try and hopefully keep that on Tuesday.”
