Walker agrees new Hatters contract

HATTERS striker Dan Walker has agreed a new one-year deal to stay at the club.

The 22-year-old’s future had been in doubt when he was placed on the transfer list after rejecting two new contracts to stay at Kenilworth Road.

Walker, who joined from Bedford Town in August 2010, returned to pre-season training this week though and has since made a U-turn about his future.

Town boss Paul Buckle told the clubs website: “Sometimes discussions with players take time and patience but that’s life.

“Dan is by no means the finished article but there is so much there to work with on him.

“Towards the end of last season we played Northampton and Colchester in reserve games and he tore them shreds. He’s quick, 6ft plus and scores goals.

“He knows we’re going to be working with a smaller squad this coming season and that gives everyone a chance of a first team place.

“A couple of clubs were sniffing about, trying to get in his ear, but I think in training this week he’s enjoyed it and thought about staying here and I’m delighted he’s chosen to commit his future with us for next season.”
