VIDEO: Hatters skipper reflects on play-off final misery

FINE margins ultimately proved costly for Luton as distraught Hatters skipper George Pilkington admitted it would take time for Sunday’s play-off final defeat to York to sink in, writes Mark Wood.

The reliable captain couldn’t conceal his hurt at the result as Town lost to the Minstermen for the fourth time this season, 2-1 at Wembley.

He said: “The reality hasn’t sunk in yet.

“The immediate thoughts are we’ve let a lot of great supporters down and that hurts more than anything.

“We were desperate to get the win and for one reason or another it wasn’t meant to be.”
