UPDATED: New Hatters player to arrive ‘soon’

Luton Town are closing in on a new signing with the deal set to be done ‘soon’, writes Mark Wood.

A new arrival has been in the offing for some time and, although it’s unlikely to be done this week, manager John Still hinted it was likely to be done sooner rather than later.

He said: “It’s still going on. Still in its infancy, but just poking its head up a little bit now.

“It’s in our hands actually, it’s in my hands. If I do it now, if I do it, when I do it, or if I leave it until the end of the season, it’s in my hands. I’m not a hundred per cent sure it will happen this week, but I’m sure it will happen soon.”

But he’s holding fire on bringing his target in so as to give other players at the club the opportunity to prove their worth.

Still added: “I know what the player I’m going to bring in can do. I’m still waiting to see what others can do.

“So if I bring him in and he doesn’t play... If he comes in he wouldn’t be ready to play for a week or two.

“Probably like Solly (Solomon Taiwo) he would just need a couple of weeks. I have to be fair to the other players because it might stop someone else showing that they can be part of what I’m doing.”
