Tyler’s ringing endorsement for McAllister signing

TOWN goalkeeper Mark Tyler believes new signing Craig McAllister has all the credentials to be a big hit at Kenilworth Road, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 31-year-old put pen to paper on a loan deal until the end of the campaign from Newport County on Wednesday.

Tyler knows all about the forward’s prowess in front of goal as McAllister scored the winner for Crawley Town against Luton last season.

The keeper said: “He’s a great addition, he can score goals in this division, he did so at Crawley and it’s something we haven’t got in the squad.

“He can hold it up, he’s a big physical presence, can defend in our box and attack the ball in their box.

“A few of the lads have played against him and played with him. I’ve played against him a few times, so I know what he’s all about.

“Hopefully he can get straight on board with us and be in the squad Saturday.”

When asked if McAllister was the missing link needed for Town to kick on in their title efforts, Tyler added: “Is he the missing link? Not really, because at the moment we’re in consistent form.

“Crowy (Danny Crow) has done unbelievably well, he’s been working his socks off and got his just rewards.

“We’ve got Amari (Morgan-Smith) coming back as well. It’s all good for the next few weeks. Hopefully everyone can stay fit and we can make a big push.”
