Tyler makes case for the defence under Still

Hatters goalkeeper Mark Tyler believe the club will build success from the back with new boss John Still at the helm, writes Mike Simmonds.

Luton had an annoying habit of leaking goals from set-pieces under previous manager Paul Buckle, but then kept seven shutouts in the final 16 games when Still took over.

Tyler said: “This year has been the worst season since I’ve been here. We didn’t have a settled side, it was chop and change.

“I think under the new manager, he’ll stick with his team. When John came in, he kept the same back four and we started keeping clean sheets.

“That’s the basis you need to win and I think that’s where it all went wrong, as we didn’t have stability.”

One huge plus for Tyler is that Steve McNulty is staying, although it’s not just the former Fleetwood defender’s permanent addtion that has impressed the keeper so far.
