Town’s players and staff are in dreamland!

With Cambridge losing 2-0 at Kidderminster, it meant Town could not be caught at the head of the table, confirming they will be playing League Two football next season.

Captain Ronnie Henry said: “I’m over the moon, it’s an unbelievable feeling.

“I’ve woke my little boy up to tell him we’re champions!

“We’ve been the best team all season and credit goes to all the lads. It means so much to us as a squad.

“The season has been unbelievable, the players, staff and fans.

“It goes to show what can be achieved by being one big family.”

Chairman Nick Owen spoke of his pure joy to BBC Five Live as he said: “It is wonderful to be back in the Football League.

“It’s taken us five seasons. We’ve got close and lost some play-off finals and it is such a relief to get back there.

“We have got a good side and played some lovely football this season. We have some youngsters who will only get better.

“I nearly went to Kidderminster but decided there was something not quite right about going to a game hoping a team would lose.

“It’s a great moment for tens of thousands of fans in Luton and around the world.

“If I wasn’t so butch, I’d probably cry.”

Managing director Gary Sweet said: “I’m just so excited, this isn’t about the achievement of any individual, this is about everybody now.

“The one thing I have to say is to thank every single supporter who has stuck by us as it’s meant so much to us

“We’re here right now having achieved what we’ve achieved just for that reason.

“They’ve spurred us on with their support in their numbers and have been an inspiration to do what we’ve done.

“It’s (the Conference) the most difficult league to get out of and is at least one million pounds difference every single year, so it’s huge for 
us.”

Hatters’ players also took to Twitter to register their delight as Fraser Franks said: “Smile well and truly back on my face! Buzzing for everyone at the club.”

Meanwhile, Jake Howells added: “Champions! Back to League 2 we go,” and Alex Wall tweeted: “BOOM! Champions!”

Striker Mark Cullen wrote: “Buzzing...all the lads worked so hard for it,” while fellow forward Jon Shaw added: “Well done boys, thoroughly deserved. Proud of you all”

The club have also confirmed that the trophy presentations will take place after Easter Monday’s home game against Forest Green Rovers.
