In a crowd of 2,869, more than half were from Luton, with 1,828 making the trip to Princes Park, celebrating late goals from Andre Gray and Pelly Ruddock Mpanzu.

First teach coach Hakan Hayrettin said: “Unbelievable, it’s just an amazing feeling at the end when you win a game like that.

“The support we’ve got is like the 12th man, win, lose or draw, they’ve been behind us all season. It’s fantastic, we can’t ask for anything more and long may it continue.

“The manager has played a big part in that this season, he’s freshened it up and it’s something installed in the football club now.

“The supporters are a part of the bigger team we’ve got here, it’s not just about the 11 players on the pitch, it’s about everyone collectively.”

Match-winner Gray added: “They were fantastic throughout and I think they know now we’re so close (to promotion).

“Despite being 1-0 down, last year they might not have got behind us, but the atmosphere was out of this world and it was like a home game for us really.

“They know that it can change in a matter of seconds, as soon as we got one goal, it was always going to go one way.”

Meanwhile, second half sub Ruddock Mpanzu, who began the late fightback, added: “Luton fans have always been good to us, very good.

“It’s good to keep coming to the games, they kept supporting us and were there to the end so we thank them a lot.”
