Town U18s held to goalless draw by Cobblers

Luton Town’s U18s entertained Northampton Town for the second time in three weeks as the pair once again fought out a goalless draw in the Youth Alliance League Cup on Saturday.

Hatters’ best moments came when the impressive Jordan Davis was involved in the build-up and his cross found Jemale McKenzie-Lowe in the box, but a great block denied the striker.

A Charlie Smith corner was then cleared to Jibodu on the edge of the box as his strike went straight at the visiting keeper.

Zane Banton’s shot and two efforts from Smith – one a great strike from 30 yards – couldn’t open the scoring.

A 64th-minute corner from Smith was then met by the head of Hawkes, but his effort went just wide, while Ian Rees also saw his header fly off target.

Hatters: Carpenter, Burtenshaw, Hawkes, Rees, Jibodu (C), Chabata, Davis, Banton, McKenzie-Lowe, Smith, Amu (Ngwala 46). Substitutes not used: Stanley.
