Town duo likely to miss Cambridge trip

Midfielder Alex Lawless is out of today’s trip to Cambridge United according to Luton boss John Still, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 30-year-old has missed the last three games after coming off during the 2-1 defeat against Hyde and Still said: “He won’t be available this week, I would think another week, possibly Saturday, but more likely Tuesday.”

Meanwhile Town are likely to be without captain Ronnie Henry, who needs a hernia operation as Still continued: “Henry will only play now if no-one can play that position.

“He’s got the hernia, we want to get it done, but we’re going to hold it for a few weeks and wait for the middle of April to get it done.”

New signing Scott Griffiths may well be in the squad, but a full debut appears to be too soon as Still added: “He’s not fit. It’s a bit like Solly (Solomon Taiwo). He needs a couple of weeks.

“I wasn’t overly looking to bring people in this season, but he would have gone elsewhere and that’s the reason why I’ve moved now and the reason why I would move again, quickly.

“If there was someone that could go somewhere else and I thought they needed to be here then I would try to get them.

“It’s not easy and the club has done very well to assist me and doing that as adding to squad at this time of year isn’t easy.

“The club have allowed me to start a process I want to start from now until end of the season.”
