Town down to sixth as Harriers beat Mansfield

Luton Town dropped back down to sixth in the Blue Square Bet Premier after yesterday’s results, writes Mike Simmonds.

While Hatters were edging past Skelmersdale in the FA Trophy, they were leapfrogged by Kidderminster Harriers, who made light of the sale of top scorer Jamille Matt to Fleetwood by winning 2-0 at Mansfield.

Harriers are now two points above Town, but Luton still have three games in hand on their rivals.

The day’s biggest winners were Newport County, who enjoyed a thumping 4-2 triumph at Lincoln thanks to doubles from ex-Luton players Aaron O’Connor and Robbie Willmott.

The Exiles moved a point behind leaders Wrexham and seven clear of Luton, who still have two games in hand on the Welsh side.

Forest Green remained fourth, but they were held to a 1-1 draw at struggling Nuneaton, whom Hatters travel to on Saturday.
