Veteran defender Anthony Charles has welcomed the competition for places that has seen young Alex Lacey edge ahead of him in the pecking order with a number of fine performances early in the season, writes Mark Wood.

Charles returned to Luton’s starting line-up for only the second time this season in Saturday’s 1-0 win at Woking.
