Town decide against signing Hand

MIDFIELDER Jamie Hand will not be turning his loan into a permanent deal at Kenilworth Road, writes Mike Simmonds.

The 27-year-old made 15 appearances, scoring two goals, in a three-month loan spell from Hayes & Yeading.

Manager Gary Brabin had made noises about signing the former Watford and Lincoln man, but confirmed this wouldn’t be the case now.

He said: “He’s been a fantastic character around the place. We would have loved to have kept Jamie on, but he’s no longer our player.

“We’re trying to work hard to get the size of the squad that we feel comfortable with and Jamie hadn’t nailed down a place which was his own.

“So it probably made sense that we weren’t going to pursue that. Jamie did great while he was here and will certainly get a glowing reference from me.”
