The 28-year-old netted his 20th league goal of the campaign at the weekend in Heed’s 2-0 win over Stockport County on Saturday and Brabin has already had one offer rebuffed during the last transfer window.
When asked if he had made a bid for the forward during Monday’s press conference, Brabin said: “I don’t really want to discuss other team’s players, but it’s well documented that we’ve been interested in Jon Shaw.
“For it to have dragged on this long, it would have had to be more than just interest now. He’s Gateshead’s player at the moment and we’ve got to respect that decision. I’ve heard rumours that they’re interested in certain strikers, but they haven’t signed anyone.”
