Still said: “We don’t owe them anything, what’s gone has gone. Of all the games we’ve played this season, that’s probably the game I didn’t feel we did ourselves justice.

“So as far as I’m concerned we need to go out and play like Luton play and as long as we play like Luton play, whoever we play, I’m going to be happy.”

The Town boss did admit that the defeat in which Shaun Whalley missed a penalty, was the one main negative of the campaign so far though as he continued: “That’s really my only real disappointment this season, our performance there. I don’t think the players were quite ready and prepared for that game.

“I thought they were ready and prepared for the game at Wrexham without playing well. The balance of the team was wrong at Wrexham which I’ve said before is down to the manager.

“Since then, we’ve always competed and what we’ve got into our game at the moment, is I don’t think this team is ever beat.

“Whatever happens, we’re always finding a way.”

Although Southport will travel to Kenilworth Road on the back of an atrocious away record in the league, which has seen them take just one point from their last 27, Still wasn’t expecting an easy ride.

He added: “They’re playing Luton and that’s going to give them a lift.

“I can’t worry about them, whether they’re high or whether they’re low is of no interest to me.

“I only worry about us being fully prepared, fully ready, fully organised, fully disciplined and fully committed to getting three points.

“I’m sure it’s going to be another tough game, all these games are tough.

“People find a little bit extra when they play Luton and I take that as plus not a minus.

“I want us to be the best team in this league and if we want to be the best team in the league, people are going to make it as difficult as they can when we play them.

“What it does, it shows us all different ways we have to go about winning games, and we’ll become a better, stronger and more successful team by other teams doing that against us.”
