In an interview with with Spanish sports daily newspaper AS, Platini came out in favour of changing the current system as he said: “I would make it like rugby, punishing the offender with 10 or 15 minutes out of the game.

“It is an idea. Now it needs to mature and see if it really is good for the game. It is a proposal to be explored.”

But that idea was something that Still doesn’t think should be given the green light as he added: “It’s not for me. People get booked now for nothing, so there’ll be people on and off the pitch every two minutes.

“I think it would the referee’s job a little bit easier. It’s easy to send someone off for 10 minutes or 15 minutes as opposed to dish out a yellow card.”
