Town boss not getting carried away after Harriers triumph

A second half brace from the penalty spot by Jake Howells saw Town pick up their first away victory of the campaign, and stretch their superb run at Aggborough to six wins and a draw from seven games.

Still said: “We played really well. The last three games we’ve played really, really well.

“When we drew at home in the last minute to Macclesfield, we weren’t the worst team in the league. We’ve now played three really, really tough games, and we aren’t the best team in the league.

“All we’re doing is making steps and it’s really important I work hard to get the foundation right, and when I get the foundation right we can start adding.

“Sometimes people come in and it takes the a while to settle, we’re still searching for certain things.

“I’m sure there’ll be other setbacks, but I’m not bothered about that. All I know is I have to build or rebuild a football club that when I came here, someone told me just seems to be going nowhere. I’ll do it in my way and I’m very, very pleased.

“Not showing any disrespect to Kidderminster, but I thought we were in charge of the game. For an away team, Mark (Tyler) has had one save to make in the first half. I can’t remember another save.”

Still made three changes for the clash, handing an immediate debut to striker Paul Benson due to Jon Shaw’s hernia operation. while both Andrew Parry and Howells came in to the starting line-up.

The boss continued: “I think Paul speaks for itself as Jon has gone in for an operation.

“I just want to push young players when I think they’re ready. Andy Parry has been terrific in training, in development games, and there’s going to be a time when I felt we were going to include him.

“It enabled me to push Luke Guttridge on a little bit, so there was quite a bit of thought behind it.

“I just felt that Jake has done really well when came on. Shaun (Whalley) we wanted to give him a rest, so I gave it all some thought about the balance and I’m very pleased.”

Although some Harriers fans, particularly those situated by the press box, were up in arms about both penalty decisions, Still felt that referee Kevin Johnson had no other option, despite not giving the second until his linesman intervened.

He added: “Evidently, the referee said he couldn’t see it, that’s why the linesman gave it.

“We said on the bench it was and to be fair, so did they.

“(The first) I thought it was a sending off (for goalkeeper Danny Lewis) as it was a goalscoring opportuniyy. But that’s just a quibble, that’s an opinion.

“We got two penalties, I’ve got no complaints about that, they were the right decision.”
